Why you need a Purple Orchid
Lately I have been drawn to the color purple.
Did you know that when we go through phases of liking a particular thing or color, it is usually our intuition telling us what we need more or. So if lately you have been loving a color, look up the energy of the color. It may be just what you need.
Orchids are a beautiful flower. They are long lasting and know what it's like to go through many phases. I have had a my orchid for a year and she is on her 3rd bloom!
My orchid manifestation story.
Last winter, I had this thought to buy an orchid. We had just moved into our new home and I wanted to bring in more plants and an orchid was top of my list. I cleaned and cleared the spot where the orchid would go and then I went to costco! Now, i wasn’t imagining that I would find an orchid the first place I went but, I turned down an isle, to get some cheese (ha) and in the middle of the Isle was a large shelving unit, with rows and rows of beautiful purple orchids!
I like to think it was the Universe putting them there just for me!

And here she is today (below), on her third bloom and with little extra flower buds, which means, she is very happy!
How to take care of your Orchid
Some tips i have picked up along the way, that have helped my orchid thrive.
Watering an orchid can be the hardest part of care. You must be careful not to over water as this will cause root rot. Monday is usually the day I water my orchid. Choose a day once a week that works for you. Not too much and not too little. In the winter orchids will need a little less water, so still water weekly, just not too much.
Position your orchid in a bright room or on a windowsill, preferably facing east or west. Sunlight is important for these guys.
Invest in an orchid fertilizer and fertilize once a week. I personally fertilize once every two weeks, it seems to work better for my orchid. You will know what works best for yours by the health of the plant.
Reporting can be a scary thought! But make sure that when that time comes, you use a good quality orchid mix.
In the wild, orchids don’t grow in pots. So often times, they will have roots that grow outside of the soil. This is great way to know the health of the orchid. If the ‘air roots’ are healthy, then you know the orchid is well. If the roots are brown and look sick, you may have problems in the health of the soil or even an infestation of mites and other pests.
Why a purple orchid is good Feng Shui
The color purple is connected to the energy of wealth and prosperity. When we use purple to activate the wealth corner of your home, we send the message to the universe that we are looking to attract more wealth into our homes. A purple orchid can be a a great money activator. It can help bring in the missing wealth energy.
An orchid is also the element of wood, which is the element you need to enhance prosperity. I like to pair mine with the water element (water enhances wood) and crystals. Having the water element near your orchid will enhance the flow of money.
Water can be represented by glass vases or glass decor, a fish bowl, mirrors and the colors blue or black.
We can also place an orchid on our work desks. This not only looks so pretty but we can use them as a wealth activator for our career. The top left corner of your desk is best as this is the wealth corner.
Orchids are long lasting and bring the energy of expansion and consistent money. They go through many cycles and if taken care of properly, can come back stronger and healthier every time. Which is how you want your relationship with money to be. Long lasting and healthy.
We can also use a purple orchid in the entry way of your home.
Placing an orchid by the front door will also usher in prosperity to your home.
As a Feng Shui consultant, one often get asked if fake plants will work. Sometimes my clients don’t have a green thumb and that’s ok! I always tell them a fake plant is better than a dead plant. As long as the plant is made from good materials and looks as real as it can, go for it! Just like any other decor item, if it brings you joy, place it in your home.
