Moving in together?
How to Feng Shui for a peaceful home.
Since Valentines day is only a few weeks away, i wanted this month to have a few love inspired blog posts!
Moving in with your partner can seem scary, exciting and like a huge life change. So many questions will flood your mind like ‘what if we don’t like eachother after living together?’ to ‘How will our routines and habits fit together?’.
When I first moved in with my boyfriend, now husband, I had lived with my family my entire life before that and the change was one that took some time to get used to.
Feng Shui can help make the transition peaceful and seamless and make sure that you are getting off to the best start.
Whether you are moving into your place or their place, or a new place altogether, you can apply these tips.
Learn eachothers decor style and how to mesh the two together. I love Feminine decor, pink, plants and crystals, my husband likes bold colors, modern furniture and could live without opening the curtains. We are total opposites! The key is to compromise and find a balance between the two styles. Creating a unique home that shows both of your personalities will help your energy blend well together.
2. Apply Feng Shui to the bedroom. Set your bed up in the command position and balance the furniture in the room. Bring in rose quartz crystals and create a sanctuary for rest, romance and sleep. I have a whole blog post on how to Feng Shui your bedroom for love.
3. Before the big move edit everything you have and donate or sell what you no longer need. This is especially important if you have things from previous relationships. You want to create that ‘fresh start’ feeling.
4. Have the money discussion. This is a big one! And often one that people over look as the feeling of excitement can sometimes take over. Being clear about who is paying for what and how things will be paid from the start will make this topic easier.
You can also Feng Shui your wealth and prosperity area (furthest left corner from the front door) to set your home up for consistent money flow.
5. Get familiar with the Bagua map, apply it to the home and, activate each sector. This will help keep the energy in harmony, creating feelings of peace and bliss.
I worked with a couple in Germany last year, they had been living together for a few months. The fighting and bickering had gotten to a point that they were at the end of their rope. Once we applied the Bagua map to the home I could see they areas that were out of balance and causing the tension in the home. Sometimes the smallest tweaks can have the biggest impact.
6. Make sure ther is a balance of yin and yang, the masculine and feminine energies. Every home needs both to be in balance. The yin (feminine) is soft, cold, dark and is the receiving energy. The masculine is loud, hard, warm and is the energy if structure, routine and discipline. Keeping the energy in balance is crucial. For example, if you have a brightly colored leather couch, soften it with neautral, plus blankets and pillows.
