How to style your nightstand for better sleep
Did you know that what is on your night stand is influencing the energy while you sleep???
It’s true. Everything has an energy and is omitting an energy at all times. What we sleep beside is so important.
There was a time where it didn’t really think about this. I slept with a night stand full of bills that needed to be paid and true crime books beside me. My life was chaotic, i couldn't seem to get ahead I had the strangest dreams. True story.
Since then I have definitely edited what lays on my nightstand. The image below is my night stand present day.
Side note: I always get asked what color my bedroom is! It is sparkling emerald by behr. You're welcome.
The nightstands are an important part of the decor of a bedroom.
In Feng Shui we always have two night stands on either side of the bed, they should be similar size and weight, but ideally should be the same. What we place on the nightstands should also be similar.
We do this because, if you sleep beside your partner you want the energy to be equal and if you are searching for partner, making space for them is essential.
How to style your nightstand
Start with lighting. Lamps on either side are a great place to start. Make sure that you are using bulbs that are not too bright. The bedroom is Yin room, reserved for relaxing and romance. If you have a wall sconce, opt for a heavier nightstand to balance out the energy. This will provide a better sleep.
Candles or a Himalayan salt lamp are also a good alternative.
2. Edit the draws if you have them. Take out anything that isn’t sleep or relaxation related. If you place work documents or your iPad, take them to another room. If there are things that must stay, organize and store them appropriately. Declutter the draws as much as you can.
3. Add your personal touches. Add books that you love, crystals, like rose quartz to aid in peace and love, or an essential oil diffuser.
I always have my diffuser on my nightstand. I like to diffuser lavender essential oils for calming and relaxation.
Tip: turn on your diffuser about 20 minutes before you go to bed. This will help get the room ready for sleep.
If you do add books, make sure that they are not like the one above. I made the mistake of displaying this book and my mind would be awake, thinking of ways to grow my business!
4. Plants! I love plants in the bedroom. Not only do they cleanse the air, they add some life to the room. I would only recommend one on the nightstand in a pretty pot in a soft color.
Optional: i keep a dream journal in my drawer, to keep track of my dreams and any thoughts or divine downloads that came to me during my dreams! This has helped me get ideas even for this blog post.
