There is a Feng Shui saying along the lines of this, when in doubt add a mirror.

In Feng Shui, mirrors are often called the aspirin for the home. They are simple, yet so powerful at improving energy and changing the direction of Chi flow. They can also help to double anything that you are trying to attract.

For example: Adding a mirror that faces your wealth area can help to double to the money that flows into your home.

When buying a mirror, always bring into the home with an intention. Always decorate with intention.

Feng Shui Mirror Rules

Location. When you bring a new mirror into your home, place it somewhere that it would be most effective. For example, in a dark room that deosn’t get much light. It will energize the space.

Avoid placing a mirror that is directly opposite a bed. Mirrors are like portals and can disrupt sleep.

Hallways. Mirrors that are at the end of a hallway can stop Chi flow to the rooms connected to the hallway. Placing a mirror on the walls to the left or right will energize the hallway but avoid them at the end.

Size. Always choose the right size mirror for the room or space. A mirror that is too small for the room or too narrow will have a negative effect on Chi. Also, hang the mirror so that you can see them top of your head in the reflection.

Mirrors should reflect positive energy. If you have a mirror that faces a bin or a dead plant, move it to reflect something positive. Placing a mirror opposite the dining room will double the family time. A mirror facing your wealth corner will double the wealth. A mirror that faces a piece of Art you love will double the love.

This is the most important mirror rule in Feng Shui.

You can also use mirrors to invite in elements to your home. For example, if your home faces a pond or body of water, placing a mirror that faces out and reflects the water will invite in the water element.

Where to hang a mirror

Placing a mirror on the left or right wall in your entrance will help to distribute Chi (energy) around the home. Avoid placing a mirror on a wall that directly faces the front door as all the energy coming in will be pushed back out.

If you live in a cul de sac, place a small mirror on your front door facing out. This will keep the negative energy that circulates around the cul de sace coming in to your home.

A mirror that reflects the stove will double the wealth in your home. The stove, in Feng Shui, represents wealth and abundance. It is where we nourish ourselves and family. Always make sure the stove is clean and you are not leaving empty pots and pans on top and inside the stove.

Mirrors can help you when you can’t move your bed or desk to the command position. The command position is very important. It is when you can see the entrance of the room comfortably from your bed or desk. A small mirror that reflects the door from where you are sitting is a great fix for this.

Mirror shapes

Particular shapes are represented by the elements in Feng Shui. We can use shapes to enhance and element that we need to bring in to our home.

A triangular mirror represents the energy of fire. Fire is connected to motivation and passion.

Square or rectangular shapes are connected to the earth element. They represent stability, grounding and growth.

Round mirrors are connected to the metal element. Choose round for clarity.

If you have a broken mirror in your home remove it. Broken objects act as energy leaves and will place a drain on finances and positive energy. Also, make sure all of the mirrors in the home are clean and clear or dust, dirt and finger prints. We want to be inviting clarity to the home.

Mirrors themselves are also connected to the water element which is important for the Career Gua according to the Bagua map. You can use a mirror as an enhancement or cure for this Gua.

Remember to align the bottom of the map to the front of your home that contains the entrance.
