How to grow your business using Feng Shui
Back in 2018, I was in the thick of my jewelry business and had my very first home office. Being obsessed with the home, i was so excited to be able to decorate and design a room that was just for me.
When looking up some decor ideas on pinterest one day, I came across a a blog post about applying Feng Shui to your office for success and was so intrigued!
Having grown up in Feng Shui'd home, I was already very familiar with the principles but for some reason I had never thought about applying it to my business. It was at a time when i was feeling like i had hit a plateau. Even though i was making consistent sales, it just wasn’t expanding the way i wanted it too. I had also hit a creative block and couldn’t think of new ideas. Feng Shui seemed like the perfect solution, or at least i thought i would give it a try. That was when things started to change.
So many companies from Nike to Disney all use Feng Shui to help achieve success so why couldn’t I? I spent an insane amount of time googling Feng Shui for the office and this is what prompted me to get certified in being able to teach and help others to Feng Shui their homes.
Where the magic happened!
If you work from home and have a home office or even if you work from your dining table, keep reading, i teach you ways that you can apply Feng Shui to bring your more success, ease, creativity and opportunities.
Feng Shui has a major impact on the way your life goes. It helps with the flow of all things. The words Feng Shui literally translate to wind and water, the flow of fortune.
This is why you should be using Feng Shui in places like your office. Your office is either supporting your dreams and goals or it is keeping them out of reach. You can be doing all the things, visualizing, writing down your goals, making the vision board, but if when you look around your office and you don’t feel excited, then you know you have a missing element.
A lot of us procrastinate, self sabotage and, suffer from self doubt when it comes to our business and this happens when the energy we work from is out of alignment.

Did you know that your brains job is to keep you safe and it is always scanning your environment for possible threats? So things like unopened mail, that art you hate and those drab colors in your office are affecting your mind, body and business goals. I too can sometimes put things off, i have moments where i am all in on something or i am just lacking motivation. When this happens, i know that i need to tweak the energy in my work space, add some color or it’s time to replace the art.
How to Feng Shui your office. The actual process i used.
Declutter. I feel like i say this a lot in my Feng Shui posts, but in this office this is a crucial step. Editing out things that no longer serve you in your office is sometimes enough to change your business completely! If you have things from a failed business, unopened bills and legal files, let them go. They are having major impact on your current work and business. If you need to keep papers, make sure they are stored away and not visible, preferably not the office space. Open all draws and remove things you don’t need, take out books on debt and other negative topics and, take note of anything that is broken. Everything in your office must serve a purpose. This vital because as you are working, remember, your brain is scanning for possible threats.
Pretty and feminine.
Color. Most of my life i have always stuck to neutral colors. I still love black and white but i have been experimenting with color since i started my Feng Shui journey. From my home to my closet and even my nails, i have introduced color in all the ways.
When i met my husband, he was very much into color and wanted to put a lot of color into our home. This actually made me feel very resistant and sometimes gave me anxiety! This may sound so silly, but i realized i was not expressing my self fully in fear of what other people would think.
Each color has an energy that it represents and sometimes we avoid color when we have limiting beliefs in that area. For example, purple is a color of wealth and prosperity, if you avoid decorating with purple, check to see what limiting beliefs you have about money. I would then add some purple to the office and see what comes up for you. You can do this with any color and look up the energy it holds. Color and changing colors in your office will always be a great way to switch up the flow of energy. Choose colors you truly love and put others opinions out of your mind. Experiment by adding art, decor items and rugs in your office in the colors you choose and notice what changes. Trust your intuition, it will never steer you in the wrong direction.
Plants. Plants are excellent Feng Shui. Not only do they represent expansion and growth, they can help absorb harmful radiation from electronics. I always suggest plants when my clients need a change in energy. For types of plants, snake plants have a beautiful upward energy. Money trees are also a perfect, for obvious reasons but any types of plants you love will be beneficial. Most Feng Shui consultants will tell you to stay clear of cacti and spiky plants, but if you love a pretty blooming cactus, go for it! Success is all about you and how you decide it looks and feels.
The command position. Simple yet so effective. Your desk and chair should be in the command position. This is where your chair and desk are facing the entrance of the room and your back is against the wall. This is the best position, energetically, to be able to see all and every opportunity that comes in. You won’t miss a thing. When you are working with your back against the door and facing a wall, you may not be able to see the opportunities trying to get to you and the wall will block your creativity. You also don’t want the energy of anything ‘creeping’ up behind you in ways of unexpected bills or bad news.
If you are not able to change the position of the desk, you can place a small mirror in front of you so you can see behind you. To not block creative flow, place a piece of art that inspires you on the wall you face.
Decorate with intention. When we are decorating the office, only place items that inspire you. Everything should have a meaning and intention. Hanging your vision boards, awards and certificates on the wall as art will serve a great purpose and bring recognition to your talents. We also want to be thinking in pairs. This will help with the balance and harmony of your business. If you add one candle, add another to help balance the energy. This will also help with healthy business relationships. Add candles to inspire and spark motivation, add crystals like citrine and amethyst and a rug to help ground the energy.
Crystals and candles, always a good idea in your office.
Check for energy leaks. In your office this will look like broken items. If you have a chair with a broken wheel, replace it. If you need a new computer, update it. A draw that doesn’t open smoothly, fix it. Energy leaks in the office will put a drain on finances and will dry up opportunities.
Tip! If you have a service based business and want to attract clients. Place two chairs opposite your desk to welcome them. Make space for them to work with you.
These are all the tips i used to Feng shui my home office. This is what led me to helping women all over the world to Feng shui their homes. If you would like to work with me personally, i offer a Feng Shui service just for career and business success. You can check that out here!
