It’s almost that time where most of us are going to do that spring clean in our homes.

This is my favorite time of year, I love spring cleaning. The way that this shakes up the energy for a new season makes me so happy!

If you haven’t infused your spring cleaning with Feng Shui, you definitely should. I am going to teach you how.

The changing of the seasons is such a great time to adjust your Feng Shui. Think about the last season, what worked and what didn’t? What went really well and then where in your life could you use some help? Was there anything that stuck out good or bad that happened? What do you need to release? New seasons mean a fresh start. Just as nature changes and adjusts itself, we should be moving with it. If we don’t change, then nothing will change in our lives.

Also, with each season being roughly 3 months, it is a good amount of time to see patterns and things that happen often to us.

Before we start, the element for Spring is wood. Keep this in mind when you are decorating. Use lush green plants and wooden baskets to really help with that energy. Also, you can add the water element to help nourish the wood.

Mirrors are a perfect water element decor example.

Spring Cleaning tips!

🌿 Start with Journaling some intentions for this season. The changing of the season is great to set new intentions. How do you want the next three months to feel? What would you like to achieve? What needs to change? What can you do to make things better? What does your home need from you?

This could be things like replacing or repairing furniture, paint touch ups, replacing bulbs or batteries or, buying a new welcome mat.

🌿 Pack up the last season. Take out the thick coats and other winter items from closets, what don’t you want to keep? If you have children, what won’t fit them anymore when winter comes back around? Don’t hold onto items that you will only have to remove later on.

Take down the winter decor. Those hand towels with the snowflakes? Switch them out for pretty pastels. Use bright colors to energize rooms. Replace thick winter blankets with lighter ones for the warmer weather.

🌿 Declutter! You knew I was going to sneak this in here.

What don’t you need anymore? What doesn’t fit? What could you remove to create more space?

Go through kitchen utensils, drawers, the pantry and find things that don’t serve a purpose anymore. If you have something you have been meaning to pass on to someone else, make sure you do it. If you have been driving around with bags of donations, donate them.

🌿 Deep clean. A deep clean is like a deep breath for your home. Pay attention to corners and make sure every surface is wiped down. This includes baseboards. You know what your home needs to deep clean. Do that. Make it a family event or simply choose a day, put on some headphones and get started. Once you start, you will want to finish. The feeling after a deep clean is unbeatable.

Include the fridge when you do your deep clean.

Also, take everything off your kitchen counters, clean them and only put back what you need. This creates space for new opportunities.

🌿 Clean out your car. Your car holds energy. You spend a lot of time driving and being in that energy. Treat yourself to a detailed clean if you can.

🌿 Change the candles you have to spring scents. I love spring candles. Citrus scented candles are fresh and perfect for spring.

Opt for non toxic candles.

🌿 I have been buying flowers i love at the grocery store and it has been a game changer for the energy in my home and mind. When I wake up and have my morning coffee and see the flowers, it lifts my mood instantly and helps my day start positively.

So buy yourself the pretty flowers!

If you have any dead or dying plants, spring is great time to remove them.

🌿 The changing of the season is all good time to change the foods we eat. I love to eat with the seasons and buy fruits and vegetables that are meant for spring. Light meals are better for digestion around this time of year. Avoid heavy, greasy food.

I have recently been going to a Chinese Dr and my health has never been better. When she told me to eat with the seasons, my health dramatically improved and any excess weight has dropped off!

🌿 Make sure the furniture you have in each room is balanced and has good Chi flow. Imagine water flowing through the room. If the room doesn't have much furniture or the furniture is too small, Chi will flow to quickly and create chaos and bickering. If the room has too much in it or the items are too big and heavy, Chi will move to slowly and then become stagnant and negative.

🌿 Freshen the air in your home. This is great to do weekly. You can open the windows, use essential oil diffusers and buy air purifying plants like snakes plants or spider plants.

🌿 Rearrange the energy in your front entrance. The entrance is the mouth of the home. It’s where energy enters and flows through your home. Keep the entrance clean and clear at all times. Shake the mats and always be mindful of the things that tend to gather in that area, they hold clues to what could be potentially be blocking new opportunities. For example, unopened bills or mail could signify ignoring your finances. This is a limiting belief about money that you may have.

I hope this inspires you to get your home ready for Spring! XOXO
