How to become a Feng Shui Mama
Ok, so this blog post is so close to my heart that I almost never wrote it…
Below is a picture of me. Calm, centered, in alignment and most importantly happy.
I will let you in on a little secret, I wasn’t always. When I was 24 I had just gotten married, happy, blissful and throwing up. I had found out, about a week after that I was pregnant and about to become a mom! I remember bursting into tears but feeling happy at the same time. I can’t describe really, how I felt when I saw the two lines coming up on the pregnancy test. P.s my pregnancy was awful, I didn’t really eat for the first three months and I felt as big as a house!
By the time i was 29 I had three children, all roughly 2 years apart or under. I remember it now as the happiest most stressful time of my life. Finding little moments on peace during naptimes and trying to embrace it all. I was also so fortunate enough to be able to stay at home, while my husband worked almost, 7 days a week.
My house was a little piece of chaos. Toys took over the floors, laundry was never ending and I had to do it all on sometimes no sleep.
One day, I sat in meditation after being awake all night and reading somewhere that mediation has so many benefits and I had a thought just come to me. Call it a divine message to a tired mama.
I went back to a time, roughly around the age of 11, when my parents had our home Feng Shui'd.
I decided that I would recreate the same feelings of that home, in my current home to try and calm the chaos and feel a bit more like my old self.

I spent every second I could researching and learning all that I could, and I eventually took an online class to learn everything I needed to know. I want to share what helped me when I was a young mom navigating life.
Feng Shui Mama tips
I created a plan for things to clean and do on certain days of the week. For example: Mondays were dedicated to cleaning the floors during nap time and Tuesdays I put away laundry.
I went to ikea and bought storage bins, everything had a place and I also donated things the children were not using. I also went through closets and sold or donated clothes (i kept things that had meaning and held memories)
I woke up at 5am (when I wasn't so tired) to make time for myself. I had a quiet coffee, read an book, worked out and/or journaled. I really found that Journaling helped me write out any negative thoughts and allowed me to let them go.
I made sure all beds and couches were in the command position.
I created a self care altar. I came back to it every time I needed a little breather. I lit a candle, set an intention for how I wanted to feel and took some deep breathes. My self care altar was on my night stand pictured below.
6. I kept the entry way to the home clear and clean. This allowed positive energy to enter.
7. I opened the windows regularly. This let out any negative energy that was trapped inside.
8. We went on a lot of nature walks! Being out in nature can help to clear your mind and has so many other benefits. As a result my children LOVE to hike and be outside.
9. I cooked meals at home at least 4 to 5 days a week. They may not have been the best at the time but in Feng Shui, using your kitchen to nourish your family is a symbol of wealth.
10. I applied and activated all of the areas of the Bagua map within my home. Having all the Guas activated and working for us, took the stress of a lot of things off. For example, knowing that I was tending to my career Gua, ensured that my husband's business was going to be successful (and it was wildly successful!)
If you are a new mom, seasoned parent or just looking to create more peace, i hope that these tips help
