Feng Shui your Garden
Now that the snow is starting to melt, we are seeing signs of Spring!
Spring is my favorite season. Everything is starting to wake up from a long winter and flowers are starting to bloom. I even get excited about the leaves on trees coming back! I am also loving the earlier sun rises. Everything about Spring brings me joy.
A lot of people, like me, are planning their gardens. Gardening, growing herbs and being in nature has always been one of my favorite things.
Did you know that you can apply Feng Shui to your back yard? Your home has an aura around it and keeping that aura magnetic is key to attracting positive Chi.
The garden center is were you can find me this spring! It is one of my favorite things to do with my children and we have so many happy memories like the one below.
Depending on where you are in the world, get to know what grows well in your climate. This will be key to keeping things healthy. You wouldn't want to plant something that will be too high maintenance and die to quickly.
Feng Shui tips
๐ธ The first step is to clean your garden. Sweep away any dirt on paths. Pull weeds and pick up any garbage that has blown in over the winter. I like to put some good music on and my headphones in and get to work. If you have any water features or fire pits, make sure that they are clean and working.
๐ธ Apply the Bagua Map. The beauty of the Bagua map is, you can apply it anywhere. You may even just have a small balcony or garden but it will still work. When we apply the Bagua, we are surrounding ourselves with harmony and balance in every area of life.
๐ธ Be intentional and plan what you are planting and where. Again, you can use the Bagua map to help you with colors. For example, you can plant some Lavender in your wealth and abundance area as purple is the color of wealth.
๐ธ Feng Shui favors wavy lines. If you are planning to put stone paths in your yard, choose to put them in wavy or curved patterns for flow. Straight paths have Chi that moves to fast.
๐ธ Add a bird feeder or bath. We want to bring life and energy to our gardens. When we have nature around us and we can hear birds singing, we feel more grounded and connected.
๐ธ Use the five elements to decorate. If possible add a moving water feature for the flow of prosperity. We can add this closer to the back door of the home to invite it in. A fire pit towards the center back of your garden will ingnite the Fame and reputation Gua. Use terracotta plant pots for Earth energy. Plant trees for wood energy and add metal in ways of white flowers and benches.
Jasmine has a pretty white flower and smells amazing. It is also known as a plant that is good luck.
๐ธ Do add comfortable seating. Use your garden like a room. Add seating to invite family and family to sit together. Add a dining area as a place to share meals with people you love.
๐ธ Tend to your garden regularly. Pick a day in the week to spend some time outside. As you know, Feng Shui is a lifestyle. Just as you clean your home and make sure that it has healthy Chi flow, do the same with your outside spaces.
๐ธ Keep the center of your garden clear. This will represent the health of your home. If plants and trees are over grown in that area, trim them back. If weeds grow in that area, make sure you are keeping up with removing them. If you want an extra boost, plant some yellow flowers.
๐ธ If you are planning a childrenโs swing set, add that to the Right of your garden, the energy in the right side will benefit the children.
๐ธ Keep the back right of your garden reserved for love. Plant pink flowers or roses. Any flower that reminds you of romance. Also add pairs of things. A statue of a pair of birds would be perfect.
