I am going to go a little bit personal with you in this blog post.

Sooo, i have been in the manifestation world for about 6 years. I tried all of the methods, took courses, joined memberships, bought and read every book, everything you can think of and my success was up and down.

I would finish a course by a mentor and feel so high, see some results and then…. Crickets until I took a new course. Can you relate?

I would open up Instagram and see the results others were getting, see them being successful everyday and then comparing my own success to that (BTW, don't do that)

I would create the morning routines, journal for 20 minutes, mediate and robotically affirm all day, everyday (this is all good but it depends on the energy you are doing them with) I was burnt out, I was exhausted and I would beat myself up if I missed a day and thought I would delay my manifestations. I lived in that fear.

About 2 years ago i came across a podcast called Your manifesting bestie podcast, and i realized I had a dysregulated nervous system. Although I was doing ‘the work’ I was doing it out of fear and lack. My nervous system would freak out if I received a bill or had to pay for something. I would think, ‘i’m doing the work, why am I still triggered by this bill'?’ It was a cycle that was so deeply ingrained in my body from childhood.

The nervous system

The nervous system is made up of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. It controls many aspects of what you think, how you feel and, what your body does. It also controls how your body acts when it is under stress.

A dysregulated nervous system is always in fight or flight mode and is why you can’t breathe when you see a bill or you go to pay for something.

A nervous system that is regulated will feel calm and unbothered by bills. It feels calm when paying for things. It knows that the money is coming no matter what. It trusts God, the universe, Source energy.

Your motto for life should be ‘a regulated nervous system over everything’

The key to manifestation is to know how to regulate your nervous system even when you feel triggered by something. That is the true ‘work’ that will bring you long lasting, consistent results. Your body has to feel safe to recieve and hold things.

It is what took me from sometimes success to hitting my monthly income goals every month, inspired ideas and creativity flowing through me. It even helped my marriage. When i was knew how to manage triggers, everything fell into place.

How to regulate your nervous system

There are a few things that you can do to help regulate your nervous system. I personally use these methods.

You don’t have to work hard and do them everyday, unless that feels aligned to you, but knowing when you feel triggered and then bringing yourself back to calm is the trick.

Most people won’t tell you that working harder is not the answer but knowing when to the do the work is (and it’s simpler then you think!)

Awareness. Knowing what triggers you and knowing when you are triggered will change everything. When we feel triggered, it usually comes from a past experience or suppressed trauma that we have picked up on this journey called life. We can use these methods to help bring us back to ourselves:

  1. Breath work. This one still saves me! I have been known to do some breath work in the grocery store when things come up! Simply doing breathing exercise can help reduce stress and anxiety and lowers blood pressure. Try the box breathing method when you feel stressed out: Breathe in for 4, Hold for 4 and Breathe out for 4. Do this until you feel yourself relax.

  2. Move your body. When you have had a stressful day and you are in those feelings with no end in sight, get up and go for a walk or do a workout. What this will do it help you release endorphins which are like a happy chemical and change your thought patterns from moody to hopeful.

  3. Somatic shaking. This one i personally haven’t tried but many say this works. Somatic shaking is moving the body in a shaking movement to release stuck trauma and trapped emotions.

  4. Meditation. Now this one can be more effective after one of the other methods have been tried. Making your mind quiet can be hard if you are feeling panicked or stress. Combing meditation and breath work can be effective together.

  5. EFT tapping. My personal favorite. The emotional freedom technique of tapping on certain meridian points in the body while repeating affirmations can help you feel calmer when under stress. I once did a course where the mentor was tapping while she was angry and she was spitting out words that i can’t repeat, as a way to remove them from the mind, it works! Triggered by your partner? Walk away, find a quiet space, tap on your points and say all the things you want to say to them. Don’t hold back, i promise you will feel better and because you haven’t said it to them directly, it may just save your relationship!

6. Neuroaesthetics. I wouldn’t be me if i didn’t bring this back to Feng Shui! Your home can help you regulate your nervous system. Neuroaesthetics is how the colors, textures, artwork, smells and symmetry of your home effects how calm you feel. A cluttered, chaotic and unorganized home can all play a part in your well being. Your brain is always searching and scanning your environment for triggers. For example: I hate when my floor isn’t vacuumed and clean. I can’t relax and have to immediately grab the vacuum. The Feng Shui of your home and your environment is the one thing many manifestation mentors don’t talk about but it is so, so important!
