5 ways to turn your bathroom into a spa

One of my favorite rooms in my home is the bathroom. Now, i have been married for 13 years and one way we stay happy is we have separate bathrooms! My husband and son share the master bath (I let them have it!) and me and my daughters share another, it just works!

When i think of my bathroom i think of a place that i can relax in, not just a room to shower and get ready. When you think of your bathroom, what do you think of? Is it cluttered and dull or is it filled with lotions that you love, organized and efficient and soft plush bath mats? To get the feel of how you want your bathroom to look and feel, i like to create mood boards.

I LOVE this mood board by We are Kin interiors. The soft colors and gold hardware makes it look so luxurious and pretty.

In Feng Shui bathrooms are so important. Water is connected to the wealth that comes into the home. Having a clean, functional bathroom is crucial. It is definitely a room that needs tending to at least every week!

Tip: Check for leaky taps and clogged drains if you are experiencing financial troubles. Leaky taps symbolize money down the drain!

For me, giving the bathroom that spa like feeling helps me feel like i am bathing in luxury which, in turn, improves the wealth the circulates in my home.

  1. The first way that to change the feel of your bathroom is to buy some plush bath mats. The feeling of stepping out of the bath or shower and onto a soft mat makes me so happy! My only suggestion for colors not to choose is blue or black. In Feng Shui, blue and black are the colors of water. Bathrooms already hold so much water energy and too much water is drain on finances.

Pink is my favorite color, if you couldn’t tell!

2. Add plants! Not only do some plants thrive in bathrooms with the humidity, they also lift the energy and help to soak up excess water energy. Plants give that life energy, they are relaxing and uplifting, just how you want a spa to feel. Choose plants that are tropical like a pretty monstera.

No windows for light? No problem. This faux monstera is beautiful and still gives that nature indoors feeling.

3. Candles are a must! No spa is complete with the soft glow of a pretty candle. Choose scents that you love that have a pretty jar. Winners and homesense always has the best selection! You can also reuse the candle jar as storage for cotton pads and other bathroom essentials.

4. Plush bath towels. I don’t think this one needs any explanation! Soft, plush, fluffy bath towels are key for that spa like experience. Towels made of natural materials like bamboo and cotton will hold up well after washing and keep that soft, fluffy feeling for longer. For added luxury, invest in a towel warmer. This a game changer in the winter! My washing machine actually has a towel warming option and it is the best thing, especially in these Alberta winters!

Look at these colors!

5. Invest in a good shower head. There are so many out there on the market. Choose one that feels right to you. I recently bought one from Amazon that has a filter in it and my hair has never been softer! The right shower head can change and elevate your whole shower experience. When shopping, look for a shower head best for your needs, such as a massaging spray, high pressure or rain shower.

For an added spa feel, tie some eucalyptus to the shower head. This has many benefits such as reduced inflammation, increased mood and improved breathing if you get colds often.

Give these tips a try and let me know how you feel!
